Infiniti's New 2.0L Turbo Engine

the chances of this making it's way into nissan's may be slim but for now i'd say there still is a possibility of it happening. Being a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that will have 211 hp and 236 lb-ft of torque, in the IDX it will be one awesome power plant

Infiniti will begin producing its newest engine in America.

The Japanese automaker has announced the official start of production at the Infiniti Decherd Powertrain Plant, which will assemble the company’s 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine. That powerplant will be used in the European versions of the Infiniti Q50 and the Mercedes-Benz C-Class that is assembled in Alabama.

The new plant is a partnership between the Renault-Nissan and Daimler AG and around 200 new jobs have been added to support production. The company expects 200 more jobs to be added once the plant ramps up to its full 250,000 engine annual capacity. The 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine will have 211 hp and 236 lb-ft of torque.

“The opening of this new powertrain facility is an important step for Infiniti,” said Infiniti President Johan de Nysschen. “It is the first step of our manufacturing expansion that will include the start of vehicle production in China later this year and in Europe next year.”

This could be an awesome option if anything I can see this being fitted in to the Nismo Edition. With tunes and chips there is potential for power. At the end I think we would still be paddle flipping.

A definite possibility for the NISMO model. How fast do you think they could get the NISMO IDx going with a 211 hp powerplant in it. That is crazy amounts of power but it would be able to go pretty fast. If you consider possible tuning too, then who knows what is possible.

Are there any other engines that are possible for the IDx NISMO?

It won't be a straight line car, that's for sure.
Hard to say how fast it would be around a road course but i'm sure it will be good enough

You don't need a tremendous amount of power to make it fun in corners just look at the brz/frs. If thats the case I would advise Nissan to focus on the handling and balance.

no need to turn up the boost with this engine in the IDX, it's lightweight already helps greatly, plus i would be concerned about reliability if they do that.

In the CLA its already running MAD boost. I heard it was somewhere up in the 20's but that might of been for the AMG model...
