Overall I think they did an amazing job getting the IDx to look like the 510, but at the same time keeping it modern and even ahead of it's time in terms of design

I didn't realize just how similar the two vehicles are. I think its safe to say that if Datsun didn't turn into its modern budget brand emanation, this is the type of car that we could expect to see from them.

Do you think that Nissan could possibly build anymore Datsun inspired vehicle in the future. Perhaps it could be a new element to their design language?

Nissan was Datsun. New Datsun has little to nothing to do with OLD Datsun other than name. It was much cheaper for Nissan to revive Datsun as a low budget brand than it was to build brand image from the ground up for a new moniker.

Nostalgia wise they could think about selling the IDx under Datsun like Toyota uses Scion, but I find that disingenuous. Datsun has a fairytale cult like addiction status in NA, so to revive the brand here as a budget brand as well is going like stabbing all your loyal enthusiasts, who likely drive Altimas, in the heart.
