2016 Mazda MX-5 Miata Cup Car on show at SEMA

Mazda revealed its Global MX-5 Cup car which is based on the 2016 Miata. It will use the same 2-liter SkySctiv engine as the North American street car.

Quote:
The Global Cups will be regional, but the season will culminate in a Global Shootout at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca, and the winner of the global series will get a one-day test in the Mazda LMP2 diesel car that runs in the TUDOR series.
I wanted to post this up here to show what the Nissan IDX could become. There could be some really cool custom IDXs if Nissan allowed it. I think that this SEMA Mazda Miata shows how little cars can be customized and made exciting, just like the IDX could potentially.

Front end looks super mean!

If Nissan does end up coming out with the IDX, they need to do something like this with it.

The stripe going from the headlight down the side in a wave is a really nice touch.

What is the buckle.handcuff looking thing on the very front?

Pretty sure that is a tow hook.

This is a great looking car. I think it would be a popular thing to make more small vehicles that are affordable in a racing style. People would eat that up.

It's a tow hook.
I'm surprised they didn't try to get fancy with the tow hook and have it in the same or similar color as the body as at times that is the case with track cars like this.

It does look a bit stuck on there. The roll cage is also fun. I think that it is hard to integrate a tow hook onto a design like this. It's not a Jeep or truck so it just looks a bit out of place.

A convertible NISMO IDX would be soooo cool. I wish I had the rendering skills to show it off.

Why is it not being a Jeep or truck makes it having a tow hook look out of place?
You must be new to this.

I just thought they would have put it in a more inconspicuous spot or possibly painted it body color. The tow hook itself isn't out of place.

well if you look at the color theme..black and red, it flows with that.
wanting it in a different color is just preference.
